A Flat White at Old Mate coffee bar. Copenhagen.

You might have noticed that I like coffee very much, and I have mentioned Old Mate coffee bar as one of my favorite place to get it.  Well, now I thought I would invite you inside and let you know why I like this place so much.  Obviously I think the coffee is amazing! But best of all you can get a Flat White (a coffee beverage originating from Australia and New Zealand) which I got very addicted to when I was in New Zealand. Elly, the owner of Old Mate, is from Australia.  Besides this amazing coffee, I love the cozy and very homey atmosphere .. Old Mate, Nansensgade 26, 1366 Copenhagen, Denmark.  At the moment Elly is out traveling and at Old Mate you can meet Underwood Ink Open: Wednesday through Friday from 08.30 – 24.00  Saturdays from 16.00 – 24.00.

My first Wedding Fair ..

Sitting on the sofa.  A cat on one side and a computer on the other .. my legs are up on the table and the tv is on .. Wouw! what a day .. 8 hours standing and talking non stop at the big (huge) wedding fair in Copenhagen.  I will admit that this morning I was a bit skeptical about being in such a big place with so many people, and so much sale going on in the air .. but,  I must admit it was great! great because I got to meet really nice people  .. many of them I have only met on facebook or here on the blog, but nice for once to see them face to face, and answer all kind of questions.  Also I got some good tips for my trip to New Zealand next week yehaaa! .. so, it is not just about weddings! Ahh, and there is lots of good cake ;)

Jakob & Majken – Pre-wedding shoot

When I first met Majken and Jakob, I  immediately felt in love.  It is not a secret that I looove colours and a style that shows personality.  Well, as you can see these two wonderful people had that, and on top of it all, they where so warm and funny that I felt like I had known them for a long time.  Majken had commented a few times on my blog, and I was lucky she felt for my style too ;)

After our first meeting talking about their wedding, we decided to take some pre-wedding shoots.  Last year it was the first time I started with this, obviously it is copied from the wedding photographers in USA, and has probably been in Europe for a while, I have just never thought about it as an option.  Anyway, it felt like a great idea!

First I met them at their home .. Wow, it was just like them .. stylish, colorful and warm! Then we went out to the big green area at Amager Fælled, in Copenhagen.  We where quite lucky with the weather .. even though it was a bit cold and with a hint of rain in the air ..After a shoot like this, I realise how nice and important it is to be able to connect with your clients, it is such a personal and intimate thing you are doing as a photographer, to be able to capture a tiny moment in two peoples life .. and most important of all is that when it comes to their wedding, you all feel more relaxed and secure about the situation.

A post of Majken and Jakob’s great wedding will be coming soon ..

Happy New Year – 2012!

Today is the 1st. January 2012.  Wouw, it is the first day in a new year .. I just love it!!   I left year 2011 happy, dancing and satisfied and today I’m entering 2012, happy, a bit tired (from last nights bubbles) and full of excitement. I have tons of New Years resolutions, and some of them are copied from last years one and those ones where copied from older ones.  I don’t care because this year is a new year and yes, I might leave some for next year, but I will try hard to do some this year, just like I did last year.  I love the start of a New Year because it makes me think about the year that just passed.  If there are things I am unhappy with I will change it if I can, at least I will try and make an effort, because that is the least I can do.  There are of course things that I would love to change, but it is out of my control so it is imposible .. but that is why I find it so important to “fix” all the big and small things you are unhappy about if you can, because you can!!

Anyway, one of my millions New Year’s resolutions is – Live in the now, and enjoy I am alive.

WHAT ARE YOURS?!

In the days between Christmas and New Year.

Here I am sitting at my father in law’s house, in a little village in Normandie, in France. Philippe and his two sisters are playing scrabble, it is in French so I am just listening. This time is so cosy, I love it.  We have had some wonderful Christmas days and they are still going on.  We have visited lots of family .. Sometimes it can be a bit hectic, but all in all very relaxing.  I have been here so many times, that I don’t feel the need to do millions of things while I am here.  In fact, this is the best moment to relax, read, and to reflect.  It has also giving me time to think about the year and how amazing it has been.  So many new things has happened and sometimes I was so overwhelmed by it that I thought it was too good to be true.  But as good as it was, it was also quite tough, I felt I needed more hours in the days and I felt like I had no time to see family or friends.  Hopefully I will learn to take breaks and to feel good while taking them.

Some of the good things that has happened in the job front:  I was introduced to many nice blogs of photographers, like Jasmin Star, Jonas Peterson, Creative Live, Rock and Roll Bride, people that has really inspired me to focus on what I love to do and how to believe in myself as a photographer and as an artist.  With a little push from Philippe I started my own blog. This is still something that is a bit difficult for me, since I am not very good at writing and it makes me insecure.   But at the same time I love it, and with the help of peoples comments on my Facebook page and on this blog, it encourage me to continue.  I also met the sweet Elizabeth from Pretty Chic Blog and was featured in her blog as the dealer of the month in march.  Wow, thank you Elizabeth!!  Then I met my now new friend and photographer colleague Lina Ahnoff, who I am now sharing my studio with and I love it .. this has been one of the best decision I have made in a long time.   Then there are ALL the amazing weddings I have been photographing this year, some bigger than others, but all different and with amazing people, all of them which I consider as new friends. At last but not least, there is Philippe, my best friend and partner, the man that I have know for almost 14 years, and been married to one year (today).  Without his support, I would never have reached so far.   THANK YOU! THANKS TO ALL OF YOU!

Now, I am looking forward to start a new year .. I LOVE  ”New Year”, I love the fact that it gives you a chance to start something new, or do something new, it is time for changes, or updates, it is a time full of hope and dreams, and since I am leaving this year behind me with a huge satisfaction, I am so looking forward to the year to come … Yay!

A picture from USA.

This is a picture I took last year at the Grand Canyon.  I haven’t really looked at it until now .. but I actually really like it. This trip was amazing, my first trip to USA.
